Gesture-based machine interaction

We have designed gesture-based interaction as a novel way to operate machine tools in a factory environment. Using laboratory experiments, we designed a new set of bodily gestures which take the user’s cognitive and emotional needs into account. This system, fundamentally designed from the user perspective, has been succesfully tested by “floor workers” in a real machine shop environment.
