In this project a biomechanical testing approach for running is developed and its commercial potential will be investigated. The approach is based on the 3D motion analysis method, which is able to produce large masses of data about kinematics and kinetics of the running stride. The analysis of the motion data has been automated and speeded up by efficient algorithms. Moreover, valuable information about individual gait patterns and joint loadings can be produced by mining reference values from a pooled data mass. The potential end users include, for instance, runners, coaches, personal trainers, and physiotherapists.
