ProjectFostering Early Childhood Media Literacy Competencies
The STORIES project contributes to the enhancement of the quality of early childhood education and care system and services with regard to an essential and urgent need of the digital society, i.e., the need to promote cultural awareness in the use of media tools and related languages starting from early childhood towards the development of digital competence. The project focuses on the development and implementation of proper strategies and best practices for media literacy in early childhood education, through pedagogical research and experimentation, and will result in a pedagogical model for teachers and training institutions.

The project consortium has created a unique developmental approach for technology education: Compared to many other projects that have tried to involve girls in technology, the UPDATE approach includes a strong focus on early childhood and primary education, phases in which the attitudes are often formed. From th is understanding, it is far too late to start to try rising the girls' interest at only at secondary or later stages.
